Do it Once; Do it Right; Never Do it Again

What a lovely summer it has been.

My awesome friend Kate, who bought me my first presents for my home in Anchorage, came to visit and we went to Denali.  It was probably the most beautiful place I've ever seen in my life.  It was amazing to get to spend some time with Kate -- who was a huge support in my decision to move -- and Alaska never ceases to amaze me.

After that it was time to hunker down for the AK Bar.  People keep asking me about this, so I'll clarify: In Alaska, you can practice on your out of state license for 10 months if you work for a public interest job (like the Public Defender Agency).  I'm about expired, so I had to take the Bar.  It sucked just as much as the first one.

I found it hard to shut my life down again.  I had promised myself so many times during the dark Barbri days in California: "If you do this right, you'll never have to do it again."  So trying to convince my sad little brain to do it again... it's like I just didn't find the promise to myself credible. Anyway, I tried hard, and we'll find out what happens in October.  Of course I hope I pass, because I love my life and job here.  But if I don't, then that's part of my story and I'll find something else to do.

Like making muffins.
